Schools and emergency remote education during the COVID-19 pandemic
As a result of the unprecedented impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on education around the world, EPPI-Centre team Dr Melissa Bond, Dr Nina Bergdahl, Dr Rosa Mendizabal-Espinosa, Dr Dylan Kneale, Faye Bolan, Poppy Hull and Fjolla Ramadani conducted a systematic review, identifying and synthesising 81 primary empirical studies, focused on teaching and learning in secondary schools during the pandemic. The report was published on 20th October 2021 and can be accessed here, alongside an openly accessible database of included studies.

As a result of the unprecedented impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on education around the world, I conducted a living rapid review of literature, focused on teaching and learning in K-12. So far 89 studies from 90 articles have been synthesised, but this will be an ongoing project.
If you have any empirical research that could be added to the review, please contact Melissa. |

Living database of studies in the review
In order to assist practitioners, researchers and policy makers, a living database has been created using EPPI-Reviewer and the new EPPI-Visualiser tool.
The database can be filtered and searched, with all coded data updated live, whenever any new studies are added or further data is extracted. Users can create crosstabs or frequency charts of all information coded within the database, as well as download a RIS file of any items of interest. To access the live database, please head here. |
