Dr Melissa Bond
Research Fellow/EPPI-Reviewer Support & Training Officer (University College London) & Adjunct Associate Professor in Qualitative Evidence Synthesis (University of Stavanger)
Dr Melissa Bond studied a Bachelor of International Studies, Diploma in Languages (German) and a Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) at the University of Adelaide, a Graduate Certificate in eLearning through the University of New England and a Master of Education from the University of Adelaide. She is a member of the Center for Open Education Research, and defended her PhD in 2020, receiving Magna cum Laude.
Following three years as a Research Associate in the Education faculty of the Carl von Ossietzky Universität Oldenburg, and two years as an EPPI-Reviewer Support Officer at the EPPI-Centre, University College London, she is now working as a Research Fellow and an EPPI-Reviewer Support and Training Officer at UCL's EPPI-Centre, an Adjunct Associate Professor in Qualitative Evidence Synthesis at the University of Stavanger, and as a part time Research Fellow for the National Institute of Teaching. Melissa has been named in the top 2% of researchers globally two years in a row; in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, Melissa accepted a position as an Associate Editor for the Online Learning Journal, as well as joining the Editorial Board of the new Nordic Journal of Systematic Reviews in Education. In 2024, she will join the Review of Education as Co-Editor-in-Chief. Prior to her roles in higher education, Melissa taught German across Years 7 - 12 at Clare High School (South Australia) for 10 years, as well as SOSE (now Humanities), English, Information Publishing and Processing, Music and Drama. She also held the role of Year 8 Coordinator, SOSE Coordinator and LOTE Coordinator for two years, and Acting ICT Coordinator for 2 months. Melissa was a Professional Learning Facilitator with the Goethe-Institut from 2008-2016 and has presented at many state, national and international conferences.
